The official trailer for Alita: Battle Angel was released this week, giving audiences a better look at the post-war world from director Robert Rodriguez.
What you’ll notice is that the character of Alita (Rosa Salazar), a cyborg from a different era, looks different. Footage of the movie from last year caused a heated discussion among fans about Alita’s manga-inspired eyes—they were very off-putting, to say the least. But it looks like those involved took many of the comments to heart by making a few tweaks.
The trailer clocks in at over two minutes and includes plenty of interesting backstory about Alita and how she quickly gets swept up in a plot where she’s the target of a character played by Mahershala Ali. As the trailer reveals, Alita contains significant technology that has been lost for more than 300 years.
Directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by James Cameron, Alita: Battle Angel is set for a release on December 21.
