Last year, the reboot for the Tomb Raider franchise was announced after a twelve-year hiatus. Oscar winner Alicia Vikander nabbed the role of Lara Croft, a badass archeologist, and now you can see her in character from the set of the film.
The photos show Alicia Vikander doing some serious stunt work. She looks flushed and dripping with sweat, alluding to a much grittier version of Lara Croft compared to what we saw with the Angelina Jolie version. The film could edge closer to the recent Tomb Raider video games.
Not too much is known about what the movie will be about. Walton Goggins will be the villain, Daniel Wu will portray Lu Ren and Dominic West will play the role of Lara Croft's father, Lord Richard Croft. Nothing yet on the plot of the film.

Alicia Vikander looks like she will be a great Lara Croft
Alicia Vikander is no stranger to action movies. She had roles in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Jason Bourne, both action-adventure movies. But those roles are just secondary to her most prominent films, which showcase her impressive acting talents. She won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Danish Girl last year and earned universal praise for her role as Ava in Ex Machina. It looks like this casting choice was a perfect one, but we'll hold out our final judgement on Vikander's take on Lara Croft until we see the movie next year.
The untitled Tomb Raider project is scheduled to hit theaters March 16, 2018.
