Stadium Events

Stadium Events is one of the rarest NES games ever made. Had I known this back when I played the thing at a neighbor's house in the late 80s, I probably would have told him to hold on to the thing.

It hit in 1987, but it was pulled from store shelves the next year because Nintendo wanted its own crack at the family fitness stuff. Remember the track pad? There were supposedly only 2,000 copies in North America, 200 of which made it on to consumers.

That was nearly 30 years ago, and the rarity has reached new levels. There are supposedly only two sealed copies of Stadium Events out there in the whole world, and one just went on eBay for sale. At the time of drafting this post, it has six days left of auction time and it's already hit $91,000.

When asked if the game was sealed on the listing page, the seller offered that it was and that they "use to work at Nintendo and I have had this since the early 90's [sic]."

I have a feeling this one is going to see a supremely high winning bid.
