For old codgers like me who haven't been keeping up with the evolution of Pokémon, the series that is, Mewtwo is the pinnacle of awesome. He's the Pokémon you can catch at the end game and the one you use your singular Master Ball on. Without it, the dude is practically impossible to nab, and once you do, any remaining Pokémon trainer, gym master or Final Four member standing in your way is officially toast..

Of course, we've come a long way since Pokémon Red and Blue and I have no idea who the new big kid on the block is anymore, but one thing for sure is that the dreaded psychic cat is making a return to the Nintendo 3DS generation of Pokémon, Pokémon X and Y.

In the trailer above, Nintendo reveals a smaller and sleeker version of the famed Pokémon wreaking havoc on a handful of poor, less equipped souls. I can pick out Machamp, Gyrados and Cloyster, but I am way too far behind the times to identify the others.

Is this a new Mewtwo redesign or another evolutionary step for the type? We'll have to wait and see when Pokémon X and Y is released for the Nintendo 3DS this October.
