As we wait for Apple to send out invites for an alleged April event, the Cupertino company could have another announcement planned for as early as next week.

Building on a rumor that claimed Apple would release new products between March 20 and March 24, Macotakara claims a refreshed 9.7-inch iPad Pro is imminent, and it’ll apparently feature an A10X chip.

Aside from boasting improved CPU and graphics performance, it’s unclear if the smaller iPad Pro will sport any other new features. Chances are, Apple will quietly introduce the refreshed device without much hoopla. The company has unveiled new products via press release before.

In all likelihood, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro refresh will keep the same dimensions and design of the existing model, which will allow accessories, including Apple’s Smart Keyboard, to work with the new device.

Expect it to cost $599

Since the update is expected to be iterative, the price will likely remain at $599 for the 32GB model—and that doesn’t include the Apple Pencil. The good news is the existing model should drop in price once a newer model is introduced.

There have been several conflicting reports about Apple’s future iPad plans, and while we’re seemingly no closer to the company’s rumored 10.5-inch model, an upgraded 9.7-inch iPad Pro appears imminent.
