Pantech Element

The 8-inch Pantech Element tablet was leaked ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas early this month, and it’s now available to purchase on AT&T’s LTE network — with or without a contract. It boasts a waterproof design that promises to protect you from the elements, and it houses some pretty impressive specifications, including a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera.

Pantech Element Specs

  • Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS
  • 8-inch display (1,024 x 768)
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 16GB internal storage, expandable via microSD
  • 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with 720p video recording
  • 2-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 8.36 x 6.12 x 0.42 inches
  • 16.57 ounces
  • 6,400 mAh battery

Although it ships running Honeycomb, Pantech has promised that the Element will get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update later this year, though it is yet to provide a date. It also claims that the Element’s 6,400 mAh battery will provide you with up to 12 hours of use and 25 days of standby time.

AT&T is offering the Element for $299 on contract, but if you’d like to snap it up without a commitment you’ll have to pay $499. That is a little pricey if you ask me, but I’m assuming the contract-free price is hoping to encourage you into a new contract.
