After you eat too much food over the holidays, there’s nothing better than sitting down to enjoy a great movie. Luckily, there’s been a lot of fantastic movies in 2018, from Deadpool 2 to Isle of Dogs to Avengers: Infinity War.
If you, like me, still buy movies, then the list down below will have at least one item you’ll want to add to your collection. Below are 25 movies to buy (or gift) over the holidays.

Avengers: Infinity War
An expansive epic that culminates 10 years of the MCU. It collects all the heroes (minus Hawkeye and Ant-Man) to battle it out against Thanos, who successfully eliminates half of the universe.
Black Panther
This film broke barriers and ushered in a new era of superhero movies. With a gorgeous setting and the MCU’s best villain, Black Panther is a triumph in every way.
Mission: Impossible—Fallout
Speaking of triumphs, Mission: Impossible movies keep getting better and better. Is there any stunt Tom Cruise won’t do?
The Incredibles 2
It took over a decade for the sequel to come but it was well worth the wait, especially to finally see Jack Jack unleash his powers.

Deadpool 2
The Merc With a Mouth is more foul-mouthed than ever, and this time he has friends. Is it weird that I thought the movie’s best character was Yukio?
A Quiet Place
This movie brought horror to the mainstream, using a clever premise in a thrilling way that never lets up throughout its runtime.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
People don’t give this movie enough credit, considering the troubles it went through. I’d watch this again in a heartbeat.
Ant-Man and the Wasp
This was a timely follow up to Avengers: Infinity War, showcasing why Paul Rudd makes so much sense for the MCU.

Isle of Dogs
Wes Anderson is back with another stop-motion movie about an isle of dogs and a kid who will stop at nothing to save his beloved pooch.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
No matter how you slice it, this is a great thriller with some of the best monsters we’ve ever seen.
Ready Player One
Nobody has a bigger imagination than Steven Spielberg, making him the perfect guy to bring this project to life.
Game Night
If you want a few laughs, then Game Night is a must-watch. It features a wacky premise that goes in a lot of really funny directions.

The Meg
This movie knows it’s stupid, which is what makes it so good. And who wouldn’t want to watch Jason Statham battle a prehistoric shark?
Mandy
The less you know about this movie the better. Nicholas Cage is at his volcanic best in this indie thriller.
Paddington 2
Not everything needs to be about death and destruction. Delight at the film that bring Paddington Bear to life in this wholesome animated comedy.
Annihilation
Director Alex Garland returns with a science fiction horror film about military scientists who enter a quarantined zone with dangerous creatures.

Hereditary
Another movie where the less you know the better. Toni Collette gives an Oscar-worthy performance in a movie about a devil overtaking a family.
Early Man
This stop-motion animated comedy comes from the minds behind Wallace and Gromit, which says all you need to know.
Upgrade
What looked like a forgettable B movie is actually one of the more interesting science fiction action movies of the past few years.
The Nun
It doesn’t have the best plot and a lot of the scares are predictable, but the movie sets a great mood and gives backstory to a spooky character.

Searching
Searching is a thriller set almost entirely on smartphones and computer screens, making it completely unique (and worth seeing).
Science Fair
Science Fair is a documentary about the next generation of science lovers as students compete at The International Science and Engineering Fair.
Blockers
Another great comedy that’s worth a look, if not to see John Cena take his bigger than life wrestling persona and translate it to the big screen.
Smallfoot
It’s not nearly up to the quality of The Incredibles 2, but Smallfoot is still a fun and entertaining escape, especially for younger viewers.
Ocean’s 8
Ocean’s 8 features a great cast and a cool heist in what will hopefully become a larger franchise in the coming years.
