LG G8 renders show off what LG’s stunning flagship for 2019 may look like

The LG G8 is going to be a gorgeous device when it launches next month. We haven’t really heard much from LG’s newest flagship, but now we’re getting an avalanche. Earlier today a report from CNET revealed the G8 may feature an attachable second display, and now we may have our first look at what the phone could look like.

New renders of the LG G8 via Onleaks and 91mobiles show off what LG’s stunning new device could look like. The first features you’ll notice right away is the notch at the top of the display. LG adopted the notch with last year’s G7 and it is continuing steadfast into 2019 even though many manufacturers are turning to the punch hole design.

Besides the notch, the device still features a glass on glass design sandwiched together by a metal frame. It definitely looks like a follow-up to the G7 with a few changes.

The most interesting change we can glean from the renders is the dual-camera system. It is now horizontal instead of vertical, while the Laser Autofocus seems to be missing. It may be included into the camera module but that’s not something we can make out from the renders.

Also returning is the back-placed fingerprint scanner. 2019 seems to be the year in-display fingerprint scanners are going to take off but LG is not quite ready to adopt the technology. Like most phones it’ll be equipped with a USB-C port but unlike most phones it’ll include the headphone jack.

Codenamed Alpha, the LG G8 is expected to come with a 6.1-inch display with a 19.5 by 9 aspect ratio. Aside from that, the specs can only be guessed—it’ll likely include a Snapdragon 855 processor.

LG for its part has denied the renders are the real deal. Head of LG electronics Ken Hong replied to a tweet saying this isn’t the real LG G8. This might help explain why the renders don’t really match the earlier report about it including an attachable second display.

LG is expected to announce the G8 at Mobile World Congress in February. We’ll see if it looks anything like the renders show or if it’ll be futuristic-looking with an attachable second display.
