Apple now offers battery cases for iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR

Without word or warning, Apple on Tuesday began offering smart battery cases for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. Notably, the iPhone X, Apple’s flagship from 2017, isn’t listed among the phones compatible with the company’s new smart battery cases.

The designs are a little more refined compared to Apple’s earlier battery cases. There’s still a hump on the back, but it’s a little more symmetrical to the bottom of the phone, giving it a more refined look. Users will still have access to their phone’s Lightning port.

According to Apple, the new smart battery cases are compatible with Qi-certified chargers, so you can charge your phone and case simultaneously.

All three battery cases are offered in black or white and ship out beginning this Thursday. Or, if you prefer, in-store pickup is also offered for January 17.

Here are the stats of the three cases, according to Apple:

iPhone XS

  • Talk time up to 33 hours
  • Internet use up to 21 hours
  • Video playback up to 25 hours

iPhone XS Max

  • Talk time up to 37 hours
  • Internet use up to 20 hours
  • Video playback up to 25 hours

iPhone XR

  • Talk time up to 39 hours
  • Internet use up to 22 hours
  • Video playback up to 27 hours
