If CES is any indication, Alexa is making its way to just about any gadget under the sun. That includes cars, for which Amazon made a device called the Echo Auto that adds the smart assistant to any car with a 3.5mm headphone jack or Bluetooth system. Following its announcement back in September, Amazon confirmed that it has taken over one million preorders for the device.
Amazon vice president for Alexa Steve Rabuchin relayed the news to TechCrunch as he raved about the response to Echo Auto. The first Echo Auto preorders began to ship in December and Amazon hopes to ramp up shipping in January.
With Echo Auto, drivers will be able to control various aspects of the car through Alexa, like the volume of music and phone calls.
Just about every aspect of life is getting Alexa functionality and that shows in the amount of devices Amazon has sold with the smart assistant. The popularity of Alexa-powered devices isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Multiple companies announced some truly interesting products at CES 2019 that will feature the smart assistant, like Lenovo’s hybrid tablet.
