Disney and Pixar on Wednesday announced Onward, a new film starring Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Octavia Spencer, with a release set March 6, 2020. The film is being directed by Dan Scanlon (Monsters University).
“Set in a suburban fantasy world, Disney Pixar’s Onward introduces two teenage elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there,” Onward’s official synopsis says.
Both Pratt and Holland worked together in Avengers: Infinity War, so there is a pre-existing chemistry. It’s something Scanlon and producer Kori Rae noticed when bringing the two actors onboard.
“Chris brings equal parts huge heart and fantastic humor to his character,” Rae said.
“Tom has an infectious charm and sincerity that makes you root for him in every character he plays,” Scanlon said.
Scanlon and Rae were also full of praise for Louis-Dreyfus and Spencer, two of Hollywood’s most respected actresses.
Onward, releasing March 6, 2020, will follow Pixar’s Toy Story 4, which is currently slated to hit theaters next summer.
