Galaxy S10 Lite to Battle Apple’s iPhone XR in 2019

Don’t be surprised if Samsung rolls out more than two flagships in early 2019. By the way, that’s not even counting the Infinity Flex Display-based product. It appears as if a whole set of Galaxy S10-branded flagships will be launched and released together.

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 will be sold in at least three varieties, according to insider Ice Universe. The 2019 flagship should offer up two models that are nearly identical, but a more compact size with slightly downgraded specifications could be joining them as well. It’d provide the South Korean company with an opportunity to push different smartphones for consumers’ varying budgets.

The Galaxy S10 Lite, which isn’t an official name, will have a Super AMOLED display measuring 5.8 inches. It’ll keep 2K+ resolution, but Samsung might flatten its edges to maintain some affordability. Meanwhile, the other models are set to have 6.1- and 6.4-inch screens.

Here’s what the long-rumored Galaxy S10 Lite could look like:

As seen in the leaked render, there isn’t a forehead or chin to store the front-facing camera and other sensors. The Galaxy S10 Lite and its siblings are expected to ship with a display cutout. Everything gets tucked into a small space within the Super AMOLED panel.

If all goes according to plan, Samsung will position the Galaxy S10 Lite as an affordable alternative to its top-of-the-line models. Budget-friendly flagships were once a big part of its operations, but lately it has focused on separate mid-range and entry-level lines. In 2019, the Galaxy S line could return to that territory.

The insider doesn’t mention any other models, but there could also be a fourth in the mix. In November, Bloomberg reported on an anniversary edition that’ll include groundbreaking features. It could sport a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ Super OLED display, as many as six cameras with spatial perception, and 5G connectivity.

Samsung hasn’t talked about the Galaxy S10 and when it’ll be unveiled, but an announcement should come in late February or early March.
