First Details from Star Wars: Episode IX Set Will Only Get You More Excited

Star War: Episode IX won’t be flying into theaters until next December but that doesn’t mean J.J. Abrams and company aren’t busy working. In fact, they are in the midst of creating an epic ending to the trilogy that first began three years ago, and if Kevin Smith’s words are any indication, it’ll be the biggest Star Wars spectacle we’ve ever seen.

The famed comedic director recently went on Good Morning America for an interview when he began talking about his visit to the set of Star Wars: Episode IX. He didn’t reveal any spoilers, unfortunately, but he did say the movie is going to be amazing.

J.J.’s doing the Lord’s work. This movie looks fantastic. It’s a year away, but man, it looks fantastic. I wept on set because I saw somebody give a career-best performance. Somebody I’ve seen in these movies before. I rolled a tear, it was so darn powerful. Biggest set I’ve ever seen in my life. The dude’s not directing a movie. It’s like he’s directing a small country.

Smith could not delve deeper into detail as he signed multiple non-disclosure agreements, yet his excitement is still palpable though his words. We can’t really blame him either. Star Wars: The Last Jedi turned out to be a big disappointment and fans have been looking forward to the next movie to right the wrongs.

To do so, Lucasfilm brought back The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams to right the ship and it sounds as if he is going to do just that.

Star Wars: Episode IX will make its way into theaters December 20, 2019.
