Pixel 3 Issues Get Banished After Latest Software Update

Google’s Pixel 3 can’t get much better from a hardware standpoint, but the latest update includes drastic improvements on the software side.

The new December update takes aim at various issues that plagued this flagship early on. From the Camera app crashing to the Pixel 3 XL’s speakers buzzing, the Mountain View-based company dabbled in more than a few areas. The update also tweaks memory management on both models. It should make the entire user experience a lot more stable.

Here’s the entire list of functional patches, courtesy of Google:

If you own any of the Pixel phones, be sure to look at the changelog. The security and functional patches aren’t standard across all products. Some of them are limited to certain Pixel phones, but the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 2 are almost everything.

Still, all Pixel and Nexus devices are getting security patches. The original Pixel doesn’t appear to have a build up yet, but builds for the Nexus 6P (OCPM7.181205.001), Nexus 5X (OPM7.181205.001), and Pixel C (OPM8.181205.001) are live. Of course, there are also builds for the Pixel 3 (PQ1A.181205.006) and Pixel 2 (PQ1A.181205.002).

The builds are meant to label Google’s update for each product. Also, it helps to identify the necessary files if you’re manually installing the software rather than waiting for an over-the-air update.

Expect the software update to be pushed to users over the coming days and weeks.
