Pedro Pascal will reportedly be joined by veteran actor Nick Nolte in The Mandalorian, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The upcoming show, which is set in the Star Wars universe, will launch on Disney Plus next year.
It’s unclear who Nolte will play and how important his character’s role will be, but the series is already well into production. THR says the show will be heavy on visual effects, as most Star Wars movies are, making it easy for actors to be inserted deep into production.
If Nolte’s casting is getting its own announcement, chances are his character will play a big part. Nolte joins Pascal and Gina Carano, with the former reportedly playing the main character.
Little is known about the show thus far though Jon Favreau, who wrote the series, previously revealed a short synopsis:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from authority of the New Republic.
Some of Hollywood’s biggest directors have signed on to helm episodes, including Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and Taika Waititi.
