NASA’s InSight Probe Shares Spectacular Picture of Mars Horizon

Following a textbook landing on Mars earlier this week, NASA’s InSight explorer has sent back a gorgeous photo of the Red Planet’s desolate horizon. The fact that InSight traveled 300 million miles to get to the Martian surface makes the image that much more beautiful.

The image was shared by InSight’s official Twitter account, which noted the quiet beauty of Mars.

NASA’s InSight has been deployed to the Red Planet to study its mysterious interior. The information collected will provide scientists with information about how celestial bodies like the Moon and Earth formed.

“InSight will study the interior of Mars, and will teach us valuable science as we prepare to send astronauts to the Moon and later to Mars,” said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine.

NASA said InSight’s mission will last for about two years.
