In a surprise move it has been announced that Netflix has given a straight-to-series order for a live-action Cowboy Bebop.
Ask just about any anime fan to name a few of their favorite series and you are just about guaranteed to hear Cowboy Bebop mentioned in there. It is a staple of anime fandom and has been since it first premiered back in 1998.
For several years now a live-action film has been swirling around Hollywood with Keeanu Reeves attached to star as the series lead character, Spike Spiegel. It seems that project is now dead as Netflix made a surprising announcement in the early hours of Wednesday.

Netflix later went on to announce that anime creator Shinichiro Watanabe will he brought in to consult on the project. The first episode is also being written by Chris Yost who penned Thor: Ragnarok.
The reaction on Twitter thus far has been fairly negative. There is also questions immediately if Yoko Kanno will again compose music for the property as her compositions were almost like a character in the series as well.
Netflix has given no timeline for this project, but with a straight-to-series order, it will probably be moving fairly fast.
