New Pixel Phone Leaks Again…Headphone Jack in Tow

Rumors of a third Pixel device go back to way before Google debuted their duet of devices for this year. Turns out, where there’s smoke there’s fire. On the heels of last week’s images showing the mysterious device, allegedly codenamed ‘Sargo,’ we now (thanks to Ben Geskin)  have even more proof the device is real… even if it may never see production. Sargo slots in (way) below the Pixel 3 with a spec sheet, not closely resembling its flagship big brothers.

  •  5.5-inch IPS FHD display (2220×1080)
  • Snapdragon 670 processor
  • 32GB of internal storage
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 2915mAh battery,
  • 12MP rear camera (8MP front-facing camera)

The spec sheet certainly lends credence to a significantly more affordable device, a factor of importance as Google aims for deeper market penetration and Android Pie adoption. The build of Sargo is allegedly more plastic, but its inclusion of a headphone jack that seems odd. Why would Google release a device below their flagship with a feature their more expensive models don’t have? This is pure speculation on my part, but I’d imagine this was a final design being considered for the Pixel 3 and will never see production. I do hope my assumption is wrong, a more affordable Pixel would make the perfect gift for most pockets this holiday season. If it does come to market, would you want it? What price would want to see it at? I think $499 would be the sweet spot.
