MediEvil Rises Up Again: Check Out the PS4 Remake’s Gameplay

Sony unveiled the first gameplay trailer for its MediEvil remake. The title, which was first released in 1998 for the PlayStation, will be re-released for the PlayStation 4 next year.

MediEvil sets players up as Sir Daniel Fortesque. He was killed on the battlefield by his rival, but Lord Zarok accidentally brings life to him again 100 years later. With an opportunity for revenge, Sir Dan makes a renewed attempt to win back the Kingdom of Gallowmere. But he also needs to defeat an army of the undead.

The world is filled with zombies, werewolves, scarecrows, knights, and more. It was a visual feat two decades ago.

On the PlayStation 4, Sony’s Internal Software Development team and Other Ocean Interactive will reimagine the world for enhanced visuals. Everything about MediEvil will be overhauled for current graphics. Plus, if you have a PlayStation 4 Pro, you’ll be able to play the game in 4K.

Here’s the entire gameplay trailer, which runs for nearly 2 minutes:

MediEvil wasn’t a one-and-done title. Sony released a sequel in 2000, and another remake for the PlayStation Portable came five years after that. Even though it wasn’t a huge success commercially, Sony thinks there’s still appeal in MediEvil for today’s gamers. So here we are with a modern remake.

It’ll be released sometime in 2019. Sony hasn’t announced a specific date on the calendar, but MediEvil for the PlayStation 4 should arrive in the first half. Maybe it’ll lead to another installment if the remake sells well.
