OnePlus 6T vs. OnePlus 6: Small but Big Changes

OnePlus is back with its mid-cycle update with the OnePlus 6T, the follow up to the OnePlus 6. With the mid-cycle update, OnePlus usually just upgrades a couple of features but keeps the overall design and specs of the phone the same. It’s very much the same story with its most recent update. With that in mind, let’s see how the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 compare.

There are two key differences between the two devices: the notch and fingerprint scanner. Although the OnePlus 6 had one of the smaller notches found in an Android device, OnePlus decided to reduce it even more to a minuscule teardrop on the OnePlus 6T. The change is welcome because less notch is always better.

The fingerprint scanner saw a much bigger change. It migrated from the rear of the device on the OnePlus 6 to beneath the display on the OnePlus 6T. The change wasn’t necessarily needed but it does establish the OnePlus 6T as a future-forward device and makes it standout against the competition.

Aside from those two features, the rest of the phone stayed the same aside from a slightly bigger display (6.28-inch vs. 6.41-inch). It’s still the same glass and metal design, Snapdragon 845 processor, (up to) 8GB of RAM, and dual camera.

The OnePlus 6T is clearly better than the OnePlus 6 although the differences aren’t game changers. Check out the side by side spec comparison below to see how to the devices stack up against each other.
