Last week, Chris Evans did the unthinkable—he penned an emotional goodbye to the Captain America role he’s played over the last eight years. It seemed to many like a clear indication that the upcoming Avengers 4 movie is going to be his last appearance as the iconic superhero. We still don’t have clear confirmation regarding his future, but Robert Downey Jr. has come out and addressed the controversy in the most fitting way possible.
After Evans’ tweet went rival with fans, Downey Jr. let Captain America know who the real sheriff is.

“We all know who the real sheriff in town is Chris Evans,” said Downey Jr. with picture of Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear and Woody wearing costumes that resemble the suits of Iron Man and Captain America. Atop the picture another header reads: To Infinity War and Beyond.
That’s a pretty good play on words on Downey Jr’s part. The tongue in cheek response is a great homage to the two stalwart MCU characters while also giving a nod to the classic Pixar movie. In true Downey Jr. fashion, it also deflects the attention being thrown at Evans’ possible exit.
But the story doesn’t end there. Evans later responded on Twitter.

If Avengers 4 ends up being Evans’ last appearance as Captain America, it’s reasons like this we love him as Captain America.
