Amidst the hoopla of the announcements of the new iPhones, Apple quietly released the gold master beta update of iOS 12 to developers. The update comes on the heels of the announcement that the public release is happening on September 17.
The gold master update is essentially the version Apple will release to the public on September 17. It should have all the wrinkles ironed out that the past twelve beta updates were meant to fix.
Apple first announced iOS 12 at WWDC in June along with a ton of new updates. Chief among the updates is an overall performance improvements that should be most notable with older devices dating back to the iPhone 5s. Other major updates iOS 12 offers is Siri Shortcuts, Screen Time, Grouped Notifications, more Animojis and the new Memojis.
Developers can download the gold master beta update of iOS 12 as an over-the-air update. Public beta users should see the update hit their devices in the coming days (possibly hours).
