iOS 11 Adoption Rate Hits New High as iOS 12 Release Nears

We’re mere days away from Apple’s iPhone event, where it will also announce the new 2018 iPhones as well as the release date of iOS 12. With the date coming up, Apple revealed where iOS 11 stands with its successor is just around the corner.

Apple’s latest mobile OS has now been installed in over 85-percent of iOS devices as of September 3, marking a new high. Apple revealed the adoption rate in a support page for developers, updating the stats for the first time since the end of May. Back in May, iOS 11 adoption rate hit 81-percent.

Now that attention is turning to iOS 12, iOS 11’s download place should plateau, marking the beginning of the end for software version. Interestingly, the version of the software never quite matched the adoption rate iOS 10 achieved. The specific reasoning for this isn’t known, but it may have something to do with the high profile bugs that plagued multiple versions of Apple’s latest software.

Following iOS 11’s 85-percent installation rate is iOS 10 with 10-percent and the remaining 5-percent being older versions of iOS. Apple will soon add iOS 12 to the mix, adding a slew of useful upgrades, such as improved performance, grouped notifications, Siri shortcuts and Memoji.
