Pixel 3: Google’s Next Big Event Scheduled for October 9

We finally know when Google will unveil its Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL: October 9. The search giant on Thursday sent out invites for an event to be held in New York City, where we’re expecting the company to introduce new smartphones and possibly its rumored gaming streaming service.

Although the invites sent out don’t indicate what will be shown at the event, it’s hard not to conclude Google will show off its next Pixel device, which have been endlessly leaked over the past few weeks. Meanwhile, a previous report from Bloomberg was spot on when it cited sources who claimed Google would hold an event on October 9.

When the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL do get unveiled, fans should expect big changes compared to last year’s release. For one, the Pixel 3 XL may feature a deep display notch—something that has greatly divided Pixel fans—and a more advanced camera experience.

The Pixel 3, meanwhile, is expected to feature a design that is closer in style to the Pixel 2 XL, with no display notch. Both devices may also feature wireless charging, which would be a first for the Pixel line.

Additionally, Google may share details about its rumored streaming gaming service. According to reports, the service will work similarly to services like PlayStation Now and Nvidia’s GeForce Now, allowing subscribers to access a library of games over an internet connection.

We’ll find out when Google’s event kicks off on October 9 at 10 a.m. ET.
