Microsoft announced the name and release window for its latest software update. All Windows 10 devices are eligible for the free system-level upgrade.

In a few weeks, the ‘Windows 10 October 2018 Update’ will be available for nearly 700 million devices around the world. The software update, which might seem simple in name but not in changes, should arrive in early October after a limited roll-out commences in late September.

The changelog will be lengthy, but some of the more important features include a cloud-based clipboard, a dark theme for File Explorer, and Edge enhancements.

Since it’s been in development for several months, the software update should be clean and snappy. It’ll be offered as version¬†1809.

In early 2019, Windows 10 finishes with the Redstone codename and transitions over to 19H1.
