Spyro Reignited Trilogy, originally scheduled to be released on Sept. 21, has been delayed to November 2018.
Co-studio head of developer Toys for Bob explains the reasoning on a blog post, stating that the bundle needs “more love and care.”
“Everyone here at Toys for Bob is so proud to be reigniting the original Spyro trilogy after all these years. We’re deeply committed to getting these games right, so we’ve decided to move the release date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy to November 13, 2018. I really hoped that you would be rescuing dragons and scorching Rhynocs sooner, but the Trilogy needs more love and care. In November when you’re exploring the Dragon Realms, Avalar and the Forgotten Worlds, we know you’ll agree the extra time was worth the wait.”
The big question is whether Spyro Reignited Trilogy can ride the same nostalgia train that made Crash Bandicoot N’ Sane Trilogy a surprise success. The two franchises enjoyed a healthy rivalry back in the days of the original PlayStation, and they will obviously attract many of the same players.
We’ll have to wait for the answer in November, which Spyro Reignited Trilogy releases for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
