Nintendo Quells our Fears and Confirms that Luigi is Alive and Well after his Brutal Murder

A spat of spoilers ruined the Nintendo Direct announcements that Castlevania characters are finally coming to Super Smash Bros., meaning that the only real shocker and surprise was the heartbreaking and brutal murder of Luigi at the hands of Casltevania’s #2 villain, Death.

If you missed the horrible and grotesque occurrence, watch it again in the video below and try not to wince.

Poor Luigi. The ghosts of Castlevania were just too much for his vacuum.

Today, the internet finds itself agasp, worried about the fate of Nintendo’s iconic sweetheart, so much so that Twitter channel Nintendo UK Versus confirmed that Luigi is fine and well after the reveal trailer.

Whew, thank goodness. I guess the trailer wasn’t canon. If this was Star Wars, it would be a different story, and we’d have seven backstories detailing the event by now.

In the meantime, yesterday’s Nintendo Direct confirmed that Simon Belmont and Richter Belmont, two popular vampire hunters from the Castlevania series, as well as Donkey Kong Country villain King. K Rool will be included in the upcoming roster for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, available Dec. 7.
