Daredevil Season 3 is Definitely Coming This Year

2018 will see all four members of Marvel’s Defenders team get a new season before the ball drops at the end of December. After lots of speculation that we wouldn’t see Daredevil until 2019, though, we have word straight from Netflix that that’s simply not true. The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen returns this year.

Word comes via Netflix’s Q2 earnings video. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos talked about shows coming back to Netflix for additional seasons in the second half of 2018. You can’t go much higher up the chain than the CEO.

Red Batman Returns

“In the short term, we’ve got new seasons coming up, in the second half of this year, of Orange is the New Black, Ozark, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Narcos, the finale of House of Cards, and the follow-up series to Making a Murderer,” he said.

Sarandos didn’t offer up a release date, but we can make a quick guess. Jessica Jones’ lackluster second outing hit in March, and then we had 3 months until Luke Cage‘s impressive follow-up hit. When Iron Fist hits in early September, it’ll have been about 3 months since Luke hit the streets. On that schedule, we can likely look forward to Daredevil season 3 hitting sometime in December. That’s pure speculation, but I’d sure enjoy the Christmas present.

The only hero that won’t see a 2018 series is Frank Castle. The Punisher dropped in late 2017, and Netflix has given most of these shows at least a year and a half if not two years before a follow-up. We’d expect to see Frank back for his sophomore outing in the second half of 2019.

Little bits and pieces of teasers have been dropping throughout the last year. We got an invitation to a funeral last year, and actor Vincent D’Onofrio gave us a tease just last week. If you haven’t checked out Daredevil yet, check out our reviews for the first and second seasons, and maybe even the very-okay Defenders. Danny Rand will have a chance at redemption when Iron Fist season 2 hits on September 7, and it now seems Daredevil will likely be ‘born again’ yet this year, too.
