LG’s CineBeam 4K Laser Projector is the 150-inch TV you’ve been looking for

The selection of TVs has never been more diverse, from 4K to OLED options that take picture quality to a new level. Couple this with the growing innovation that is bringing down prices and there’s never been a better time to be in need of a new TV. LG’s CineBeam 4K Laser Projector is among those choices and it should definitely warrant your consideration.

LG’s 4K projector packs quite a punch with an impressive image that can be adjusted from 40-inches all the way up to a massive 150-inches. When you see it in person it is even more eye catching than you can imagine. Watching 4K UHD and HDR10 content on a display that big is a next-level experience.

I viewed LG’s 4K sizzle reel that comes included with the projector featuring a scene from Independence Day: Resurgence. The movie is quite terrible but the visual effects weren’t the reason for it. In fact, they are the best part of the movie and they are shown off in their full glory with the projector. Colors are vibrant, detail is crisp and the overall picture quality is super bright. That’s due to the 2,500 lumens of brightness the CineBeam 4K Laser Projector is capable of emitting.

One of the best aspects of the projector is its portable design. It’s a tall rectangle box that comes complete with a handle and a retractable power cable to make it easier to move around. You can either stand it up or place it flat.

Within the case for the projector are two 7-watt speakers that leave a lot to be desired. The speakers get decently loud but they’re not impressive with tinny sounds. But built-in TV speakers are rarely any good. You’ll likely end up having to invest in a decent sound bar to get the proper sound you may be looking for.

LG included an optical audio port, HDMI, Bluetooth and its smart TV software. In the smart TV software will be apps like Netflix, Hulu and YouTube to stream your favorite content along with the usual array of features smart TVs offer.

Let’s get to probably the biggest question about the 4K projector: why would I buy it instead of a TV? That’s because TVs measuring at 150-inches are hard to come by at a reasonable price. Most plus-size TVs cap out at about 75-inches. As for pricing, LG’s CineBeam 4K Laser Projector comes in at $2,999. That’s not cheap, but it is for what you are getting. Most plus-sized TVs start at a couple thousand dollars with the bigger OLED TVs easily eclipsing that price.

It comes down to the picture quality you are looking for and what size you want it to be at. If you want high picture quality at a very big size, the LG CineBeam 4K Laser Projector is an impressive product that’s worth the investment.
