Devil May Cry 5 is finally official after weeks of steady leaks from various news outlets. Capcom confirmed at Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference that it will be developing Devil May Cry 5 internally with Hideaki Itsuno, the director of Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 4, sitting in the director chair.

Capcom pitched the game as a true sequel to Devil May Cry 4 primed with Dante and Nero to star as playable characters. While that might be a not-so-subtle jab made at the polarizing DmC, it is pretty clear that Capcom at least turned to it for a few creative decisions.

Itsuno claims that it is the best video game he has ever made, and Capcom knows that having tight controls is just as important as ever. The power of the Xbox One should be up to the task of handling it.

Devil May Cry 5 will be released in spring 2019 for the Xbox One and presumably the PlayStation 5.
