iPhone SE 2 might actually have a mini notch

The iPhone SE 2 probably won’t have every groundbreaking feature Apple’s most advanced model ships with, but it should look very similar from the outside.

Apple is giving its soon-to-be-announced iPhone a notch at the top of its display, according to Sonny Dickson. The insider, who has a proven track record when it comes to Apple, posted an alleged photo of the iPhone SE 2’s screen protector on Twitter alongside a screen protector belonging to the iPhone X. While the two accessories look nearly identical, there’s one clear difference.

Based on the two screen protectors shown in the photo, the iPhone SE 2 will have a much smaller notch. That’s because it’ll likely be missing facial recognition. Apple would instead be using the notch only to give the iPhone SE 2 an edge-to-edge display.

Inside, the iPhone SE 2 will be nothing like the iPhone X. Apple’s going to use it as an affordable iPhone to bring new customers in so the price must stay down. The overall size should be similar to the original model’s, but the edge-to-edge-display can allow for a larger display.

The iPhone SE 2 is expected to feature Apple’s A10 Fusion processor, Touch ID, and wireless charging. Like the current flagship, it should also have a glass back. The company reverted back to glass after years of using metal because it allows wireless charging. Multiple leaks and concepts have revealed the iPhone SE 2’s potential design.

Apple probably isn’t too far from making the iPhone SE 2 official. WWDC 2018, the company’s annual developer conference, begins on June 4. All signs point to the iPhone SE 2 being ready for showtime despite this year’s WWDC being more about software than hardware.
