Galaxy Note 9 announcement date just leaked

Fans of Samsung’s Galaxy Note won’t have to wait much longer for the next iteration to debut. According to Bloomberg, Samsung is planning to unveil the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9, which is just a few months from now. Last year’s Galaxy Note 8 made its debut on August 23 and officially launched in September.

Bloomberg’s report claims the device will feature an upgraded camera and more powerful specs, but doesn’t offer many details beyond that. Many expect the Korean company to include an in-display fingerprint sensor and an expanded edge-to-edge screen.

Moving the Note 9’s unveiling to the beginning of August would give Samsung more of a head start against Apple, which is reportedly set to debut three new iPhone models this fall, one of which is rumored to feature a 6.5-inch screen.

As for the Galaxy Note 9’s upgraded camera, it’s likely the device will feature a dual-aperture, similar to what we saw from the Galaxy S9. It won’t be until 2019 will we see Samsung introduce a triple-camera setup with the Galaxy S10, according to a separate report out of Korea.

A recent report claimed the Galaxy Note 9 would not offer many changes over last year’s Note 8, saving features like 3D face-scanning technology and an in-display fingerprint sensor for next year.
