Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to open at Disneyland in summer 2019

Do you hear that? It’s the steady stomp of marching Stormtroopers, coming to invade Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. next summer. After beginning construction on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge last year, Disney has finally revealed a timeframe for when visitors can travel to a galaxy far, far away: summer 2019.

Visitors at the Star Wars-themed land will find themselves experiencing “unlike anything that exists today,” according to Disney Parks’ chairman Bob Chapek. Attractions at these parks will include rides, restaurants, and more, completely immersing visitors in everything Star Wars.

Based on the models and concept images Disney has shown off, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will make a lot of dreams come true when it officially opens, especially for hardcore Star Wars fans.

One thing’s for sure: When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens next year, it’s going to be a hit, likely surpassing the level of immersion and popularity enjoyed by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which has attractions in Hollywood and Florida. At the very least, it will make the Happiest Place on Earth even more enjoyable.

With Star Wars: Episode IX also opening next year, Disney’s timing for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is fitting. Fans will have the opportunity to check out the new Star Wars-themed land when it opens in Anaheim, Calif. next summer, followed by a fall 2019 opening at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
