Netflix has signed on Academy Award winning director Guillermo Del Toro to develop a new horror anthology. The series, which is to be titled Guillermo Del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight, will be Del Toro’s second project with the streaming giant after previously working together on the animated series Trollhunters.
According to Deadline, 10 After Midnight will be a collection of curated stories described as “both equally sophisticated and horrific” from Del Toro, who is known for his propensity for all things horror.
Given the vast worlds he’s created in movies like The Devil’s Backbone, Blade II, Pan’s Labyrinth and Pacific Rim, often involving exceptional menacing creatures, expect something truly scary out of this new series.
Earlier this year, Guillermo Del Toro’s The Shape of Water took home four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, and ever since, his name has been in demand. Back in April he signed a deal with Fox Searchlight to produce a number of films in the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres. Now with his deal with Netflix, Del Toro has locked up a series of his making on top of making feature films.
Details were not disclosed as to when we could expect the series to start production or when it’ll be released
