Avengers: Infinity War not only tossed the lives of the mightiest heroes into turmoil, it did so too for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are four more movies in the works, but beyond that, hardly anything is known. Thanks to Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt, we have a little more clarity on this particular question as he revealed the next Marvel movie to begin shooting will be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
In a Instagram post, Pratt wished actress Pom Klementieff (who portray Mantis) a happy birthday stating he can’t wait to begin shooting Guardians Vol. 3 next year. We’ve always known a third Guardians movie was happening because director James Gunn himself confirmed so. However, an exact year of when to expect it has not been revealed.
Most expected it to be some time in 2020, for which Marvel has allotted three dates for movies. None have been claimed so far. With Guardians 3 shooting next year, there’s a real shot it might occupy one of those slots.
One piece of the puzzle is falling into place for the post-Avengers 4 MCU which remains a big mystery. That’s because Marvel has been super secretive of how the universe will proceed after the last climactic battle with Thanos. We suspect this is because some major characters will die for good and it doesn’t want to ruin the surprise ahead of time.
The Guardians have been great way for Marvel expand storyline past Earth. Although some did manage to make their way to our home planet in Infinity War, they will likely head off to some other planet in Vol. 3. I just hope Groot’s annoying teen phase is long gone by then.
