Google Arcade is new social-gaming platform being built in secret

by Brandon Russell | May 3, 2018

A new social-gaming startup from Google, dubbed Arcade, is reportedly being built in secret, according to a report from Bloomberg. The new initiative is being helmed by a young entrepreneur named Michael Sayman, who made a name for himself as an intern at Facebook.

Arcade will reportedly provide experiences that are “focused on mobile gaming with friends.” An app from the company is expected to launch this summer, and will allegedly feature trivia game elements similar to HQ, the popular live trivia app.

“It’s a very early experiment so there aren’t many details to share right now,” a Google spokesperson confirmed to Bloomberg.

Arcade won’t integrate with any existing social networks. Instead, it’ll be its own self-contained platform. That’s the exact situation HQ finds itself in. It has no ties to any social network yet it attracts millions of people every week.

Expect more information about Arcade to be revealed very soon.
