After Avengers 4 hits in early 2019, Marvel Studios will release the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, which will apparently be a return to “normal life” and bring things back to Earth.
Speaking to IGN, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said Spider-Man is the perfect character to ground the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to his everyman qualities. As such, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will help change the tone and pace of the MCU.
“He is one of us,” Feige said to IGN. “He is, quote-unquote, a normal person, lives a normal life, with a normal environment, who, you know, got these powers, and who is exposed to these extraordinary things.”
After briefly appearing in Captain America: Civil War, Peter went back to his normal life while grappling with his newfound title as an Avenger. In Avengers: Infinity War, he’s being thrown into the thick of it yet again.
“What is it like to try to go back to a normal life after what happens in this movie (Infinity War)?” Feige said. “Not to mention what happens in the next (Avengers) movie.”
Although Peter will attempt to get back to his normal life in the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, he won’t be in New York for long. Feige said Peter will visit other parts of the globe, adding what takes places in Avengers: Infinity War will “inform” what happens in Spider-Man: Homecoming 2.
Avengers 4 is set to hit theaters on May 3, 2019, while the untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel is scheduled for a release on July 5, 2019.
