Apple Music has been on a torrid pace lately with record-breaking streaming numbers, and this past week it reached a new milestone. The release of J. Cole’s latest album, KOD, broke Apple Music’s single-day streaming record with a massive 64.5 million streams.
The news was confirmed by Apple in a statement to The Verge. J. Cole’s KOD toppled Drake’s Views for most streamed album on Apple Music by nearly one million streams. In total, Apple Music helmed 66-percent of the first-day streams of the album in the US and 60-percent worldwide. Spotify on the other hand, confirmed KOB gain 36.6 million streams during the first 24 hours in a tweet.

The latest clash between Apple Music and Spotify continued to solidify the clear gap between the two services in terms of streams of marquee albums and big name artists. Spotify boasts more users, yet Apple Music continues to earn more streams.
With Apple Music set to overtake Spotify as the most popular music streaming in the U.S. this summer, things aren’t likely to change.
