OnePlus is back at it again, teasing a major feature coming to the OnePlus 6. This time around, the notched display is not the topic of conversation, but the OnePlus 6’s water resistance.
Every smartphone from the original OnePlus to the OnePlus 5T has failed to include a water resistant design. That appears to be changing with the OnePlus 6. In the cryptic Tweet, OnePlus matter-of-factly states: “Don’t you just hate it when you have to stop using your phone when it rains? So do we.” The last part included a winking emoji.

That strongly indicates the OnePlus 6 will finally feature high-grade water and dust resistance.
Water (and dust) resistance is a feature that is now available with every major smartphone. At this point, if a smartphone doesn’t have the feature, then it is sorely behind the curve. OnePlus is trying to avoid this label by adding an extra layer of durability to its flagship.
Even though it’s pretty clear the OnePlus 6 will be water resistant, it’s still not known what type of certification it will have. Most smartphones come with either an IP67 or IP68 rating.
Aside from that, the OnePlus 6 will include a notched OLED display, Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It is expected to be announced some time in May.
