In the lead up to the release of Avengers: Infinity War, one specific member of the group has been conspicuously missing. That would be Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye. His whereabouts remain unclear, but directors Joe and Anthony Russo have finally given fans some clarity about his involvement in the movie.

During a recent interview with, the Russo brothers opined about Hawkeye’s status and relayed a clear message to fans: relax. Hawkeye will be a part of the upcoming Avenger movies, but his particular arc will be much different from other characters. In short, it’s a long plan that may take until Avengers 4 to completely come into fruition.

“We keep saying, ‘patience is a virtue,’” related Russo during the interview. “We did not forget the twice [Academy Award] nominated Jeremy Renner. We cooked up a story for him that is a little bit of a long play, not a short play.”

The directors weren’t done yet. After the interview, they took to Facebook to put out a Hawkeye meme saying, “Everyone keeps asking, ‘Where is Clint?’ No one’s asking ‘How’s Clint?’” It’s a pretty funny job of trolling.

Funny memes aside, it is now crystal clear: Hawkeye is still part of the Avengers. It’s not clear if he’ll make an appearance in Infinity War, but he’ll definitely return in Avengers 4.
