OnePlus has already confirmed its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 6, will feature a display notch. Now, the company has confirmed some of the device’s specs. As expected, the handset will be incredibly powerful as the company pursues “burdenless speed.”
In a post in its forums, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau elucidates on the company’s reasoning behind certain decisions. Namely, why it includes more expensive, more powerful components. It isn’t just to keep up with its competitors. According to Lau, it’s what consumers want.
“We believe a truly ‘burdenless user experience’ can transcend the current norm,” Lau explains. “In experiential terms this means the phone functions just the way you expect it to, without lag or disturbance. In design terms, a focus on beauty and simplicity, with no unnecessary features added.”
To create a device with “burdenless speed,” the OnePlus will include a Snapdragon 845 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. According to Lau, that combination of specs and design “adds value to the experience of the user.”
To go along with OnePlus’ philosophy on user experience, Lau says the company has a team focused entirely on maximizing the power of its flagships.
“Fast is not just about shorter loading times or top download speeds, any OEM can achieve high numbers in one or two metrics,” Lau says. “Fast is about creating a lasting impression of speed and smoothness, throughout all-day use, whether you’re recording 4K video or browsing Facebook.”
Hopefully, OnePlus’ philosophy on speed will also extend to timely software updates. We still don’t know when the OnePlus 6 will be introduced, but with so many details now available, it won’t be long before the entire picture is unveiled.
