The iPhone SE 2 isn’t likely to be launched until sometime next year, but maybe this is a prototype that’s been caught on video.
While Apple hasn’t confirmed anything itself, there have been a number of reports indicating the iPhone SE 2 is in development. The 30-second clip shows what is allegedly an upgraded version of the little iPhone Apple introduced in 2016, and it does indeed seem real.
Apple might be going all-in on the edge-to-edge display, notch, and dual-camera for future iPhone models big and small. The alleged iPhone SE 2 spotted in the video posted to Weibo confirms all three features. Up front is a display with thin bezels and no physical home button, and there’s a notch at the top. And around the back is a camera module with two lenses.

Aside from getting to see its potential design, there’s not much else to take away from this leak. It really does come across as a smaller iPhone X. iOS, too, is unchanged because Apple maintains the same experience across all hardware.
Early on, it seemed like Apple could launch the upgraded iPhone SE in the first half of 2018. But that’s no longer rumored. The company is said to have refocused on a trio of high-end models set for the end of the year. With that plan in motion, the iPhone SE 2 would be bumped to 2019 and thus three years after the original was announced.
