In the latest move in Apple’s never ending mission to build up its original content offering, it has landed a new animated series from Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard.
According to Variety, the series, titled Central Park, will be a “musical comedy” that largely takes place in New York City’s famed Central Park. It will be written by Bouchard, Josh Gad and Nora Smith, and will focus on a family of caretakers who live and work at Central Park and inadvertently end up saving the park (and the world).
With a show runner and writers in tow, the animated series has also filled out the cast with an impressive list of actors. So far, Leslie Odom Jr., Josh Gad, Kristen Bell, Stanley Tucci and Kathryn Hahn have signed on.
Apple ordered 26 episodes of Central Park and will split them up into two 13-episode seasons.
Apple has not been shy about building up its content with serious Hollywood heavyweights. It already has a series in the works from Steven Spielberg, La La Land director Damien Chazelle and Reese Witherspoon, who will also make a talk show for Apple. Central Park adds another genre to its growing list of original content.
