Android P looks to be arriving very soon

Google’s next version of Android could be released later this month. Mobile industry insider Evan Blass recently shared a window for Android P to start hitting select hardware, and it appears to line up with previous years.

Blass says that the target for Android P’s arrival is “mid-month.”

Since a month wasn’t specified, it’s fairly safe to assume he’s referring to March. So it’s entirely possible Android P is released at the end of this week or sometime next week.

Only if you have a Pixel or Nexus devices will you be able to download and install Developer Preview 1, though. Google limits taste-testing for Android to its own phones and tablets. Everyone else will have to wait until their device’s manufacturer opens a beta program or rolls out a public build.

Based on a previous report, Android P is expected to ship with notch support and enhanced Google Assistant integration.

While Android P could debut very soon, it won’t be fully detailed until I/O 2018. Then Google will make the latest version of Android available globally near the end of the summer.
