Galaxy S9 Plus vs. OnePlus 5T: Samsung asserts its Android dominance

Among the best Android devices you could buy, two that are continually near the top are devices from Samsung and OnePlus. With the arrival of Samsung’s brand new Galaxy S9, it is a perfect time to compare it against the OnePlus 5T.

The OnePlus 5T is just three months old, so it’s still a fairly new device. OnePlus has gotten into the habit of a mid-cycle T update, which is usually just forgettable specs bump, but the 5T actually added noticeable changes. That’s not to talk down the specs, they are impressive, in particular the 8GB of RAM. But the biggest change came with the 6.1-inch display that drastically reduced the bezels, and brought the OnePlus 5T into the future of smartphones.

Comparing the 5T to the Galaxy S9, it is striking how different they are. The OnePlus 5T features an industrial design of aluminum that Apple popularized many years ago. This means it lacks wireless charging. And even though its new display is impressive, it’s not nearly as refined or as nice as the Galaxy S9 Plus’ Infinity Display. Samsung opted to refine rather than drastically change the S9’s design, and the result is a smartphone that feels premium and perfect in the hand.

It’s too early to make a definitive decision as to which is better. On paper, the Galaxy S9 Plus makes a definitive statement, but the pricing of the OnePlus 5T will always keep it in the conversation.

Check out the spec comparison down below between the two devices.
