Kotobukiya tapes into all the nostalgia at Toy Fair 2018

Kotobukiya is back with its usual array of amazing figures at Toy Fair 2018, and the promise that is a lot more cool stuff on the way down the road.

Marvel had a heavy presence in the Kotobukiya booth this year, with one of the most notable releases being the upcoming dive into the 90s animated X-Men series. These will be released as two-packs and the company rep told us that the plan is eventually to release all of the characters of the show. Should make for a fun set.

There are a lot of DC related products on the way this year from the company. Gotham by Gaslight is receiving a large statue. And, as already announced, the men of DC are now receiving an Ikemen line which is the equivalent of the female Bishoujo series.

It may be difficult to remember sometimes that Kotobukiya is indeed a Japanese company and it does produce products based on anime. There were only a few new announcements on hand, but somehow we think there are more on the way this year.

Star Wars products will see a mix of classic figures from Return of the Jedi as well as new products based on The Last Jedi.

Kotobukiya has also made arrangements to bring more of its food-related products to the states, so expect to see some new plates as well as pancake skillets with designs in them.

And we’ll wrap everything up with Kotobukiya’s two big announcements of the show: My Little Pony and G.I. Joe will both be receiving the Bishoujo treatment. The Ponies will be transformed into anime-style girls, and the female Joes and Cobras will as well. (The Kotobukiya rep said the first Joe female will be announced in the coming months, but our money is on Scarlett being first.)

Also, the company had a small grouping of horror based figures. While some of these had been seen before, and are even on the market, the female Pinhead was being shown off in art form and they announced that Michael Meyers from Halloween will soon receive the same treatment.
