Verizon welcomes an even cheaper prepaid plan

Verizon just announced what it’s calling “some enhancements” for its prepaid business. Along with two special benefits for existing customers, there’s an entirely new plan that anyone seeking to save money while on the nation’s largest network should take a look at.

The plan being added to the lineup provides a little bit of high-speed data but with much-needed unlimited talk and text. It’s priced at $30 per month, and it includes 500MB of data. That should be just enough for people who drop in on emails and check social media while occasionally away from a WiFi network. As long as you keep an eye on data usage, you’ll be fine with this plan.

Other prepaid plans on Verizon’s industry-leading network are 3GB for $40, 7GB for $50, and 10GB for $60. The new plan falls into place as the cheapest, but it doesn’t seem like too great of a deal considering the low amount of data compared to the next option.

No matter the prepaid plan you’re on, you can now purchase a Verizon Travel Pass in Canada and Mexico. Verizon will sell you the add-on that enables talk, text, and data abroad for $5 per day.

Also, the carrier is adding 3G mobile hotspot to the Prepaid Unlimited plan that costs $75 per month. Verizon hasn’t changed the pricing for the plan despite adding more value.

Everything introduced by Verizon here becomes available nationwide on Tuesday, February 20.
