ZTE Axon 7 owners can finally get a taste of Android Oreo

Remember when we said the arrival of Android Oreo for ZTE’s Axon 7 was a ways off? It still is—it won’t officially arrive until April—but ZTE has opened up its Android Oreo beta program to all Axon 7 owners beginning today.

Axon 7 owners can get the Android Oreo beta update now for their devices and enjoy all the benefits the update brings. Among them is a near-stock Android experience, improved battery life, picture-in-picture mode, faster boot up speeds, minimized background activity, Google Play Protect and Notification Dots. To sign up for the beta, Axon 7 owners can register through ZTE’s site.

ZTE stated Android Oreo is one of the most requested features from its customers, and it acquiesced. It’s refreshing to see a manufacturer going out of its way to reward its customers with the best software available. Not something you see often.

The Axon 7 has had quite a lifespan. Debuting in the summer of 2016, it came with Android Marshmallow out of the box. Later it was upgraded to Android Nougat and now it’s receiving Android Oreo. That’s more than some premium Android devices can claim, which often don’t even see a second major update of Android.

The beta program is now open to all ZTE Axon 7 owners.
