Soon you’ll be able to purchase the Essential Phone in Ocean Depths. The Andy Rubin-led company launched its first and so far only product in the second half of 2017, but this year Essential still plans to manage its existing hardware a bit before moving on.
Essential sent out a teaser on social media all but confirming the Ocean Depths color would be released this month.
The teaser shows a closeup of the fingerprint scanner on the upcoming model, which is teal with copper-toned accents. Essential brought the Essential Phone in Black Moon color to the market first, and it wasn’t until mid-October when we finally saw Pure White.

Essential has yet to say whether or not it intends to release the fourth and final color unveiled last May, known as Stellar Grey. It’s unlikely, though, since we’re nearing the point where Essential needs to introduce a 2018 flagship. Once Android 8.1 Oreo makes its way to the Essential Phone, the company is expected to move on and only issue security patches for its original product. There’s even a chance the release of the Essential Phone in Ocean Depths coincides with Oreo’s arrival.
When it does go up for sale on February 15 or shortly after, the Essential Phone’s newest color should cost the same as the rest. Essential knocked the price down to $499, not too bad considering the specifications have held up pretty well.
