Red Dead Redemption 2 just got hit with another delay

For the second time since its announcement in October 2016, Rockstar has delayed Red Dead Redemption 2. The developer announced the bad news in a blog post on Thursday, targeting October 26, 2018, as its new release date.

“We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay,” Rockstar said. “While we hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish. We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it.”

Previously, Red Dead Redemption 2 was supposed to come out last fall, but was delayed until spring 2018. That date has now been pushed back by another several months.

Rockstar is notorious for delaying its games, so today’s news is no huge surprise. Still, as one of the year’s most anticipated titles, fans will surely be disappointed.

The silver lining here is Rockstar is taking extra time to get the game right. We can all endure a few more months if it means the game is polished when it finally releases.

Little information is known about Red Dead Redemption 2, so in lieu of a release, hopefully Rockstar will start providing fans with more details. At the very least, let’s see some gameplay.

For now, Rockstar has released a handful of new screenshots to tide people over, which you can see below.
